Part 2. Editorial Board Template

Rules for building the board (read before inviting anyone)
1. Written consent first. Add a name to the website only after the person agrees in writing (email is fine). Keep the email on file. ISSN India sends verification emails to board members (see Part 10).
2. No fake, borrowed or ‘honorary’ names. Every member must be real, active and willing to handle papers or give advice.
3. Diverse institutions. At least 30-40% of members should come from outside Nagarjuna Government College. No single institution should dominate the board.
4. International members. Aim for at least 4-6 members from institutions outside India, from more than one country. Scopus looks at the geographic spread of editors and authors.
5. Senior, qualified people. ISSN India says scholarly journal board members should be senior faculty, and that students and research fellows should be avoided.
6. Full details shown online. Show name, designation, department, institution, country and official institutional email for each member. Add ORCID and Scopus Author ID links where available.
7. Size. DOAJ asks for at least five editors; ISSN India asks for at least five board members. Start with 12-20 active members across both sections.
8. Fair balance. Aim for a fair mix of gender, region and career stage, as long as everyone is qualified.
9. Terms. Appoint members for a fixed term (e.g., 3 years, renewable). Remove inactive members politely and update the website.
10. Limit editor papers. DOAJ requires that papers with at least one editor, board member or reviewer as an author stay at or below 25% in each of the latest two issues.

Subject: Invitation to join the Editorial Board of Academic Lines

Dear [Title Name],

I am starting a new open access, peer-reviewed journal, Academic Lines. It will publish research in chemistry, environmental science, physics, life sciences, mathematics and applied sciences, with a smaller section on humanities, social sciences and education. The journal follows COPE guidelines and uses double-blind peer review.

Your work on [topic] fits our scope well. I would like to invite you to join the [Editorial Board / Advisory Board] for a [three]-year term. Members are asked to [review or handle about 2-4 papers a year / give advice on policy], and to promote good practice. There is no payment and no fee.

If you agree, please reply to confirm, and share your designation, department, institution, official email, ORCID iD and Scopus Author ID. Your details will appear on the journal website. The ISSN Centre may also email you to confirm your membership; please reply if they do.

With best regards,

Dr. A. Sreenivasulu
